Software Developer

 Aeryon is looking for a software developer with the skills and interest to build the next generation of flying robots. Everyone in the R&D team works together to deliver awesome new products and features. There are no silos here, just great people working together to get things done! The right person will have one or two areas of in-depth experience and a breadth of experience in many other areas. Even more importantly, the right person just really loves software and flying robots, and will pick-up the skills & technologies needed to get things done in the best possible way!

The successful candidate would:

• Write consistent, clean, and high-quality software
• Keep our software in line with the big picture, refactoring as needed and always making the overall structure of the code better than it was before
• Mentor co-op students and junior developers, making sure their code fits with the big picture
• Dig into the whole development process, from the design and architecture of a new feature, to implementation, testing, QA, and maintenance

Job Description

We work on a broad variety of technologies. Depth in one of the following areas is essential, with the ability to take on the rest over time:

• Java/Swing UI Development
  
• Embedded Python, C, or C++
• Video or image processing
• Linux kernel-level development

Other areas that would be helpful:

• HTML/CSS/Javascript Development
• UNIX system management, shell scripting
• Network, multiprocessor, and IPC experience
• Ability to tell stories at Chocolate Time

Required Skills

• BASc or CS degree
• 2+ years experience of software development
• Multi-threaded and multi-process application development
• Experience with Agile software methodology
• Video and image processing background an asset
• GIS and mapping background an asset
